Introduction

My name is Jenny, and I am a senior studying Electronic Sports, also known as Esports. This major has opened up a new world for me, allowing me to pursue my passion for gaming and turning it into a professional career. In this article, I will share some of my personal experiences in the field of esports, and how my daily routine revolves around my studies and practice.

Theoretical Studies

One of the main aspects of studying esports is learning about the various tactics and strategies employed by different teams and players. We also study various game mechanics, such as character abilities, map layouts, and competitive formats. Our theoretical studies also touch on the psychology behind esports – how to stay mentally focused, handle stress, and communicate effectively with teammates under pressure. Outside of the classroom, I also participate in online forums and watch instructional videos to keep my knowledge updated.

Physical Training

Esports might primarily involve the use of our minds and hands, but it is essential to keep our bodies in good physical shape. For starters, sitting for long periods while gaming can cause health problems such as back pain and stiff necks. Therefore, we do regular stretching exercises and maintain a proper posture while gaming. Many professional esports teams also employ personal trainers to design workout routines for players to build muscle strength and endurance, and improve overall health and fitness.

Practice and Competitions

Practice makes perfect, and this applies to esports as well. We do not just sit and play games all day long but also conduct regular practice sessions with our teammates. We analyze and debrief on our previous games, where we discuss what went right, and what we could have done differently. Our coaches also make use of analytics tools to track our performance and improve our gameplay. We also participate in regular competitions, ranging from local tournaments to international events, which provide us with exposure to different play styles and team strategies.

Networking and Events

Numerous Esports events are held regularly, ranging from conventions and fan gatherings to trade shows and gaming expos. These events offer valuable networking opportunities, where we get to meet with other players, game developers, and industry professionals. Such interactions allow us to gain insights on the latest trends and advancements in the gaming industry, and help us to build a professional network that may lead to future job prospects.

Conclusion

Being an esports student is not just about playing games all day but also involves regular studies, practice sessions, and attending events. My passion for gaming has led me to this field, where I can showcase my skills and compete at the highest levels while pursuing a degree. As the esports industry evolves and gains increasing prominence, I anticipate an exciting future filled with new opportunities and growth.
